Websites
Websites are a great addition to the marketing armoury. They have so many features that 'old' media don't have:
- they're easily accessible
- they can deliver information via downloads directly to people interested in your business
- they combine text and images in a way that print never can
- they can be changed quickly and easily
All this is great, and I can't think of a business that wouldn't benefit from having one. But there are many factors that have to be considered.
They have to be technically sound, so that they can be easily and reliably viewed in different computer operating systems and browser combinations; they have to be flexible, so that users can approach and use them in a variety of ways according to need; and they have to be easily and cheaply changed. Above all else, they must effectively portray the business in line with its positioning. They have to quickly communicate what the business is about, and then allow customers - existing and potential - to do what they want to do.
There is a large number of providers of website construction. I've come to it from a marketing direction - not as a graphic designer or software programmer. So my focus is on making the site do what an organisation needs it to do. Sounds obvious, but not all providers do this.
I use a system which allows you to do your own updates, quickly and easily. You won't need to come back to me or anyone else to keep your site up to date. If you can type, you can manage your own site. But if you need help, I'm always on hand, and do many small amendments to clients' sites for free. All part of the service.
I offer a complete package:
- keyword search and identification based on your positioning and the search routes that potential customers will use
- copy written in a style appropriate to your organisation, built around the keywords and search routes that search robots will use, but written in a way that humans can read and appreciate, too!
- appropriate use of images (through a combination of my own photography and stock images)
- creation of downloads
- search and recommendation of domain names, hosting and publishing
- set-up of all email addresses (including setting up on your PC's)
- training in updating your site (including user manual)
- additional content to meet new needs
I've constructed sites for many different types of business - see 'Recent Work' to see a few examples.
