Website Construction
I construct websites. I use a process of linking market positioning, search term identification and copy writing to come up with the right words for your site.
I don’t claim it’s unique, but I believe most web designers don’t follow this process – which means your website won’t necessarily work well for your business.
I’ll do the whole thing – images, downloads, links, domains, hosting and email addresses. I also set up Google Analytics tracking as part of the package.
If none of this means anything to you, call me on 07725-054-212 or send me a an email and we’ll arrange to have a chat for me to explain.
What websites are for
A website has to do 3 jobs:
- Get noticed by the right people – potential customers and those who influence potential customers
- Persuade those people to do something – call you, email you or buy something
- Serve your existing customers
These aren’t in order of importance – most businesses rely on existing customers for most of their revenue, so keeping them happy is really important.
Getting noticed
There are billions of website pages out there, and hundreds of millions of websites. Exactly how many doesn’t matter – just remember that it’s a lot, and your website is in competition with at least some of them.
Your goal is to get potential customers to look at your website. That’s all. And potential customers are people who are interested in what you have to offer. So it has to be right for them – findable and readable.
You want them to read some of the site, and then do something specific. – call, email or buy.
www = Websites Work on Words
The words you use in your website are critical. They are what you rely on to get found and to persuade your customers to do things. My process of positioning / search term identification / copy writing will get you the right words in the right style.
Construction - not design
I construct websites. I don’t talk about ‘website design’. A website is not a piece of graphic design – it is a technical working marketing tool. Yes, the look is important, and has to fit the positioning, but a pretty website that isn’t properly constructed is just a piece of frippery.
Think about Amazon and Ebay – the graphics are very basic, but they do what they’re supposed to do.
